FEAR

This tapestry is a physical manifestation of my personal engagement with fear. To create it, I poured red paint onto a large piece of wool, wrote all of my visceral fears on pieces of muslin, then felted knit samples, fabric scraps, and waste yarns over the muslin scraps, obscuring them from the viewer. This process of naming, writing, and subsequently burying fear beneath layers of fabric and visual chaos is symbolic of a tendency to obscure vulnerability in the name of self-preservation and denial.
